Design in Line Magazine

My photo
This blog is the magazine devoted to design focusing on floral. Most designs featured are from SouthWest regional chapter AIFD designers. Some High profiled national and international designers will also be featured from time to time in addition to art and artists from other mediums. Also fantastic gardens and interesting stores are visited. This is the Chapter's public and floral industry outreach project. A bimonthly digital magazine is emailed to all subcribers. The blog site will feature an extension of each issue with extra articles, and pictures. Enjoy

AIFD designs SAF

Past President SWAIFD Alex Jackson (second from right) receving AAF Award
SAF's American Academy of Floriculture (AAF) has carried out the association's effort to encourage, measure and recognize those members who have committed their time and energy to both the floral industry and their local communities. The stringent requirements of the Academy make AAF status a distinction recognized throughout the industry. Nomination is open to qualified persons in all segments of the industry.

Convention in Bloom

The highlight was transforming a nightclub into a spa for the Huntington post thats the photos with the moss and floral wall, and creating the moss sign for them.(Did I send those) Lots of Celeb sightings there, Of Course the highlight meeting Matt Lauer who complimented on the florals many times.

We had to Transform a 750 ft walkway with only two hour notice we hung 45 hanging baskets , draped it with white linen and uplit with blue lights. Lined it with 20 ficus trees , placed a few sofas here and there , amazing what a team of 10 can do in such a short time 3 of those being AIFD of course.

Lots of break out parties which were not Red White and Blue themed.

Passion in Phoenix

long line of cubes. This was one of the weekly designs created for a restaurant

This was called simply suspended and was used during one of the sessions on how to hire a professional designer at The Special Event Conference

Last year Tony worked as part of Team Schaffer winning the Best in Show at The Philadelphia Flower Show. The Theme was Springtime in Paris and the entry was "An American in Paris" Each of the 4 areas showcased a scene from the movie. They also won Best use of Orchids and the SAF award for best use of flowers.

Grandma 19 is another image from Phoenix Art Museum Art and Flowers. This is my interpetation of a Raphel Soto piece that is a study in kenetics. When you see the piece of art it appears to move in a 3 demensional way. When this piece is placed and pinspotted, the light casts a shadow creating the same effect.

Tony worked for Fiesta Parade Floats for 6 years, serving as a lead leader and worked on several award winning floats.
